Tveter Finishes Seventh in 25th
Zandvoort Masters of Formula Three

ZANDVOORT, North Holland, The Netherlands, Sept. 21 - American Ryan Tveter placed seventh in the 25th annual Kumho Tires Masters of Formula Three race Sunday at Circuit Park Zandvoort. It was his first appearance in this prestigious international event that has featured many future Formula One stars since David Coulthard won the inaugural edition in 1991.

Tveter, of Oyster Bay, N.Y., was the only American invited to compete in this year's race.

Driving his yellow #11 fielded by Jagonya Ayam with Carlin, Tveter got a great start from the ninth position on the grid, and he was immediately embroiled in a battle with Arjun Maini for sixth place. Shortly thereafter he had to go on the defensive, as one of his teammates, Callum Ilott, was right on his car's rear wing as they entered Turn 1, but Tveter held him off.

Tveter surged ahead, but Ilott closed the gap again on lap 10 of the 25-lap race on the 2.675-mile road course before Ilott made a small mistake and Tveter was again able to gain some breathing room.

"I had a very good start and kept a good pace all through the race," Tveter said afterwards. "I had a great battle with Callum at the beginning, but defended well and then managed to pull a gap mid-race and hold that until the end. The car was great and it was a fantastic result for the team, with a

one-two finish for Antonio [Giovinazzi] and George [Russell], and all four cars in the top eight.

"I want to thank the event organizers for inviting me to compete," Tveter added. "I am honored to be part of an event which has been won by drivers who went on to Formula One, and I always enjoy racing at Zandvoort."

Ilott also played a role in Saturday’s qualifying race when his car stalled right in front of Tveter at the start, but Tveter didn't hit him and went on to finish ninth in that 12-lap race after starting 11th. He was only one of three drivers who were able to advance from their starting positions in that race.

Tveter was 11th in qualifying, just 0.865 off the top time set by Sergio Sette Camara.

Tveter earned his first points in the FIA Formula 3 European Series at Zandvoort in July. His next event is back in the European Championship this coming weekend, Sept. 25-27, at the Nurburgring in Germany. The season finale is Oct.16-18 at Hockenheim, Germany.
